Mann Government Taking Every Possible Step to Promote Horticulture Crops; No Farmer Should Be Deprived of Government Schemes, Mohinder Bhagat Directs Officers*

Chandigarh, March 5:
The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively promoting horticulture cultivation across the state to encourage farmers to diversify crops and enhance their income. With this objective, Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Thursday chaired a review meeting with officers of the Horticulture Department at the Punjab Civil Secretariat to assess the progress of various farmer-centric schemes. Horticulture Secretary Arshdeep Singh Thind and Horticulture Director Dr. Manish Kumar were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed crop diversification efforts and examined the facilities and subsidies being extended to farmers. Officers
briefed the minister in detail about the financial assistance being provided and the technical support being extended by the department to boost the production of fruits and vegetables.
The Minister said the government is encouraging farmers to move beyond traditional farming practices and adopt fruits, vegetables, flowers and other high-value horticulture crops. He reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring farmers’ welfare and increasing their income.
Mr. Bhagat directed officers to ensure that no farmer in the state is deprived of the benefits of government schemes. He further instructed them to conduct regular field visits, maintain direct interaction with farmers and ensure the prompt redressal of their grievances.
