A delegation led by Sh. Mukesh Kumar Agnihotri, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh is currently on7 daysvisit ofAustria & Switzerland to attend INTERALPINE show and study ropeway transportation in Alpine region of Europe. The other members of the delegation are Sh Sunder Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Transport), Sh. R.D. Nazeem Pr. Secretary (Transport) and Sh. Ajay Sharma, Director, Ropeways RTDC. The delegation visited INTERALPINE at Innsbruck, where world top manufacturers ropeway, avalanche control equipment, snow grooming machines etc are showcasing their latest technology and innovation in these fields.Since the geographic and climatic conditions of Himachal Pradesh are more or less similar to Alpine region of Europe so adoptability of these technologies was deeply studied. The owners of Leitner & POMA, MND and CEOs of the top world manufacturers of these technologies Doppelmayr and others called on Dy. Chief minister & the delegation and apprised them about latest technologies and their suitability to the State.They expressed their willingness to transfer their technology to HP and as they are the world’stop leader in ropeways, they had committed themselves to help the State in exploring its full potential in these field and making Himachal a top tourism destination besides providing eco-friendly solution for urban, as well as remote and rural areas eco-friendly transport solution by ropeways. The representatives of Salzman consulting company CEN certified Engineers who are on the board for preparation of DPR for Shimla Urban Ropeway Project also called on the Dy. Chief Minister and apprised him of the progress of this DPR. The Dy CM emphasised the need of incorporating the latest & safest technology in this Rs. 1543 cr urban ropeway project in Shimlaof 15 kms having 15 boarding/deboarding stations and spoke about the importance of speedy Implementation of the project and invited all the global leaders in ropeway technology to participate in the global tender. The Dy C M also apprised the Chief Executives of the various ropeway’s companiesof the vision of the State Government to make ropeway as a green & clean engine for development and called upon then to become partners in progress of the State by offering the best technologies at competitive prices in projects like Bir Billing, Narkanda and Kasauli. The CEO of Everice, a world leader in Ice Skating/ Hockey also met the delegation and he was apprised of the Government’s latest proposals to establish Ice Skating Rinks in the State.
Later Dy CM also met Sh Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister MoRTH and he along with Sh Sunder Singh thanked him for approving Bijli Mahadev ropeway at Kulluand apprised him of the latest development and progress made by the State in the field of ropeways. Other projects including Mata Chintpurani, and Baba Balaknath were also discussed and Hon’ble Union Minister who assured his full support for development of ropeways in the State and also advised the state government to make policy changes and offer attractiveand innovative financial incentives for these projects to make these viable as these projects have large employment and tourism potential even as they require high initial capital costs,Sh Amitabh Sharma and Sh Aakash Garg, promotors of Solang ropeway & Timber Trail at Parwanoo also called on the Dy CM and apprised him on the latest development on Rohtang and modernisation plan of Timber Trail projects.
The delegation also studied Electric Cable Articulated City Bus network technology, which is being run efficiently & successfully in Budapest (Hungry) as well as Bratislava (Slovakia) and other countries as this eco-friendly Road transportation solution can be very suitable HP also and Dy CM asked Pr. Secretary to study the feasibility of this system in context of the State.
The delegation also studied the Funicular & ropeway system atNordkette Bahn-Seegrub from Insbruck city centre to Seegrubduring their visit to and decided to further study its feasibility in its implementation in the State of Himachal, especially where aerial movement is restricted due to many factors.
